I had to laugh from the bottom of my heart when I read your two reasons to become a writer. I couldn’t imagine you got it right but in my case you nailed it!
There is this ambivalence I believe every writer feels. Of course you write for readers, otherwise it would be like the “sound in the forest, nobody heard*”, but there is also this deep joy I feel when writing, and it is a very egoistical joy.

PPS: I will be publishing my first book this year. Very exciting times!
